Small Business Alternatives is a local Tax and Accounting Firm in the Asheville area. We have been serving Individual and Business Clients since 1985. We provide affordable, professional and personal service to our clients. We work closely with individuals, estates, trusts and businesses in order to give them the services they need. Our services include Income Tax Planning, Income Tax Preparation, Payroll Tax Services, Financial Statement Preparation, Representation before the Internal Revenue Service and other Tax agencies, help with accounting systems and Consulting Services.

We have built our practice over the years by giving our clients the attention and care they ask for. Most of our growth has been from referrals by existing clients who are happy with our services and tell their friends and business associates.

Dwight Plemmons and Lynne Haller are both Enrolled Agents and can represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service. We think our combined experience and knowledge give our clients a valuable financial resource.
MEET DWIGHT PLEMMONS
I am Dwight B Plemmons, EA, ATA, and President of Small Business Alternatives. I have been an Enrolled Agent since 1985 and can represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service. I have worked with Individual and Small Business clients for over 25 years in providing quality tax planning and tax preparation as well as advice to Business Owners on how to make their business more profitable. My past experience as a co-owner of a chain of retail stores gives me valuable insights to all of the challenges every Small Business owner faces.

I was born in Asheville, NC and have been a lifelong resident. I graduated from Asheville High School where I played baseball, football and basketball and was Senior Class President. I graduated from Davidson College and was a member of the Baseball Team. I took post-graduate accounting courses at UNC Asheville.

I met my wonderful wife of over 35 years, Martha McKenzie Plemmons in college. We returned to Asheville after college and have lived here since. We have two lovely daughters, Molly Plemmons who is a nurse at Duke Hospital in Durham, NC and Suzannah Justus who is an attorney. Suzannah and my son in law Craig Justus, an attorney with the Van Winkle Law Firm in Asheville, have our only grandchildren Aiden and James.

Over the years I have given back to the Asheville community by serving on many Boards and Organizations. When the girls were young we were co-Presidents of the PTA, I was Treasurer of the Church, Treasurer of the High School Boosters Club and very involved with all of their sports and other activities. I have been an Arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau, belong to several Professional Organizations and currently on the Board of our POA.

When I am not working, I enjoy walking, kayaking, fishing, crabbing, clamming and harvesting oysters at our family home on Dewees Island near Charleston, SC. I also enjoy camping, playing sports with my grandchildren and gardening with Martha at our home.
MEET J. R. HENDRIX A native of charleston, sc, j.r. hendrix joined sba in the summer of 2020. j.r. graduated from furman university in 1997 with a b.a. in biology and minors in asian studies and philosophy. he then graduated from the university of south carolina with an mba in 2000. j.r. spent the next 19 years in commercial banking in various roles including lending and managing a lending team for one of the largest commercial banks in the country. over the years he has been a lender to both operating companies and he later specialized in lending to real estate developers and homebuilders in richmond and the triangle region of north carolina. a fan of both the mountains and the beach, he and his wife molly have two pups which you may meet in the sba office.
